Electric Heat Pump in Garage Apartment
I’m building out the interior of my garage to be an apartment. This 1.5 ton Electric Heat Pump system was installed behind the kneewall in the loft.
Insulating an attic
Vaulted ceilings can allow a converted attic space major heat gain in the summer months. In this upstairs bedroom, Open Cell Insulation was sprayed between 2"x 10" rafters at a depth of 6 inches, achieving the R-30 required by the 2009 Energy Code. Spray insulation has the added benefit of sealing any air leaks. Closed Cell Spray Insulation offers a higher R-value, effectively giving as much as R-7 per inch.
